Let's Meet Our Authors:

BK Walker currently lives in Central Pennsylvania with her three children, Brittney, Hunter and Danny, her dogs Rancid, Sadie and Haven, a cat named Whiskers and a goldfish named Fat Albert. She has always had a love for reading and writing, even as a child she created stories reading them to her stuffed animals. With a love for vampires and werewolves, you will not be disappointed with her writing as she mixes up the paranormal juice. Aside from writing, BK also supports Indie Authors organizing virtual book tours, helping them to market and promote their work. Her book review site, BWB Reviews, is just another small way she contributes to the reading world. With many stories floating around in her head, she writes when she gets the time between working as a Pediatric Home Care Nurse, being a single mother, and continuing her college education in Graphic Art Design. When she's not arguing with her muse, you will often find her at a baseball game with her boys or drinking iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts enjoying a good book.

Jaz Primo is an author, history aficionado, "pun-master", and all-around fan of things vampire and urban fantasy. Fueled by an active imagination, cold Coca-Cola, and chocolate, he strives to bring a new voice to today's array of vampire fiction. He's an avid book worm, resulting in the constant tug-of-war between reading and writing his next novel. When not pouring over a keyboard or Kindle, Jaz can be found tending a veggie garden or casting a variety of colorful lures into bodies of water as he urges the bass to bite, often using his best fish puns. He has enjoyed a fulfilling background and career in higher education, including his passionate hobby of teaching U.S. History classes during evenings. He is a native of Oklahoma where he lives with his wife and a talkative, long-lived cat. Visit his website at www.jazprimo.com and his blog is at primovampires.blogspot.com.

Congratulations to Jamie for having her book, Embody as August Book of the Month at Writing Innovations E-Zine. WOOT! WOOT!

Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she’d never been, introduce her to people she’s never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

Lady Vampire thank you so much for partying with us today! You ROCK! I was in Margaritaville all day and managed to make it to work still lol.

Larry, thank you for rocking along. I'm from PA, in Eastern time zone. I think you are correct, virtual insanity is going to be our middle names for the next three months.

Theresa - HA! Transylvania is a good one, maybe I should add that for my location huh? You may just see that in future bio's! Thanks for partying along!

Jamie, you're too funny!

Jaz, hope you're enjoying that coke! I like coke, but today was a Margarita day! Or Rum day! Even a Bloody Mary day! HAHAHAHA!

AJ keep on rockin' girl!

BK from Transylvania (saying it in my best Dracula voice) Muaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhahahahahahah!

Autum - Hi, Autum! Glad that you could make it. Tonight, we're kicking off the paranormal blog tour for each of us. It's an opportunity for readers and fans to ask questions about us, our novels, the upcoming tour, and anything that's on their minds. :-)

Victoria - Hey, V!! Glad that you could make it! :-)

Central Transylvania, took me a minute but I get it. :)

Just curious - for our talented authors kicking off their tour here today, how many books have you written and how long have you been doing it professionally? The fans want to know!!

-L (needs refill)

Victoria said...

I'm not sure what I've missed, so forgive me if I repeat a question. Jaz - I just loved Sunrise at Sunset, and I've recently finished A Bloody London Sunset, which I loved even more! I really took a liking to Devon in your second novel. I also adore Paige. Can you tell me how you came up with these two very interesting characters?

Jaz Primo said...

Hi L, and thanks for your excellent question!

I've been writing novels since summer of 2009, and had completed three novels since then. However, I have been a creative writer since I was in elementary school.

Jaz Primo said...

Victoria - Great question!

I came up with Paige literally on a lark...I had an idea for a spunky, flighty friend of Katrina's and she just kind of "appeared" in a manner of seconds. It took less than an hour for her to take full shape in my mind.
As for Devon, he just "felt" right. I've always envisioned him as a lot like Michael Clarke Duncan (from the Green Mile), and his personality seemed similiar as well.

Victoria said...

I've just been reading over everyone's comments. Gosh, I'm only having caffeine-free Coca-cola tonight. Am I still allowed to stay? lol ;-)

ArtsyChaos said...

This is very fun, thanks for the invite! I'm glad to learn about some new reads. :) Gimme a minute though - all the info is making my head spin!
~Wendy

Victoria said...

Jaz - It is so funny that you envisioned Michael Clarke Duncan in reference to Devon, because THAT is exactly the person I pictured in my mind while reading him.

It's amazing how quickly you came up with Paige. She is an absolute delight. I kind of picture Harley Quinn from Batman: The Animated Series when I'm reading her. lol ;-)

Jaz Primo said...

There will now be a pause while everyone catches up on the discussion postings.
*Insert elevator music here*
And...3...2...1....BUMP!
:-)

Jaz Primo said...

Victoria - Wow, glad that my vision for Devon came through clearly for you. lol

I'm happy that you like Paige so much. She is definitely a fan favorite. I fell in love with her character almost immediately, actually. LOL
I can see some Harley Quinn in her, for sure, too.

Victoria said...

Jaz - I've noticed that a couple of people that left reviews for Sunrise at Sunset on Amazon.com stated that they found Caleb to be "wimpy." I strongly disagree with their opinion. I didn't find Caleb wimpy at all, and it was so refreshing to see a female (Katrina) in the role that often goes to males. I am no damsel in distress, and I love that Katrina isn't, either.

Nikki said...

How about vanilla and coconut rum mixed with a dash of coke? Can't wait to stalk the tour! You ladies are awesome!

BK said...

LOL Jaz!

Thanks for stopping in you guys. Don't forget to grab a cocktail whilst your catching up!

Victoria said...

Jaz - LOL @ your hearing elevator music comment. Were you starting to hear "The Girl from Ipanema" in your head? ;-)

Unknown said...

Hey Jaz (wave. Sorry I'm late, but better than never! I even got of (or would that be on) my lazy butt to make a blogger profile and join the festivities!

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Jaz, I didn't really like the Muzak rendition of Lady Gaga I heard in the elevator, but I'm back you all!

Victoria said...

Jaz - I'm also looking forward to learning more about your characters pasts. Will you be writing flashbacks of their life? I am particularly curious about Alton's past.

Jaz Primo said...

LOL @ Everyone's muzak experiences!
Hey, I just push play...the music is in YOUR head. LOL!
(Ooo, that was deep!)

I can see myself starting a music station that plays static...our slogan will be: Welcome to K-JAZZ...where the music is in YOUR head! ;-)

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Nikki that sounds so good. I love coconut. And for the question: Pulse of Heroes is my first novel and I completed the second one last month- going through editing is grueling ad I should probably be doing it right now ;) but it's hard after all that rum and coke... I have written two complete screenplays.

BK said...

Oh Nikki, vanilla and coconut rum sounds AMAZING MMM MMM MMM! Great choice I'm going to have to try that for sure :)

I've written four books, and have several on the way. I've been writing for all my life, but published since 2009.

Jaz Primo said...

@ Victoria - Yes, I plan to reveal bits and pieces of each character's backgrounds as the novels progress. It's much nicer than doing a "history dump" on the reader all at once. I noticed that Stephanie Meyer did the same thing with her vampires in the Twilight series...much easier to digest.

BK said...

K-Jazz! I like it and the tag line! PERFECT! :)

Victoria said...

To all the authors - I am so glad to be here tonight. Thank you all so much for being a part of this. I am always looking for new reads, and this gives me a chance to write your names down so that I may take a look at all your novels. :-)

Anonymous said...

Thanks Jaz! Is your third novel another installment in the Sunset Vampire series, and when does it come out?

Victoria - caffeine free coke is just fine ;)

Nikki - vanilla and coconut rum w the coke is fine too..

-L (posting as anonymous. I feel so... anonymous )

Jaz Primo said...

@ L - Yes, my third novel is in the Sunset Vampire series. It's titled, SUMMIT AT SUNSET, and it is released this October. :-)

By the way, your blogging moniker could qualify as a name for a potentially popular and successful online personality...you can be known as: Anonymous-L or Anon-L for short! ;-)

Anonymous said...

Yeah - it's very cool that you guys are here and willing to party with your fans and answer questions.

I like the idea of slowly revealing bits of a character's backstory - I always feel like it's a little treat when I get to read about a character's history. Especially when it doesn't interfere with the development of the main action, or (ideally) helps it along.

I am not (NOT) a writer in any way, but I do know that in the best books, every single word is there in just the right place at just the right time, chosen for a reason.

AJ - you must know about that, having written screenplays. Were they movies or TV? Feature length? How does that compare with writing a long novel like Pulse of Heroes?

Anonymous said...

Anon-L is my new rapper name.
I'm going to be huge!

BK said...

HAHAHA Anon-L it is then. You're going to see your name in flashing lights :).

AWESOME! Just don't forget us little people when you go big :)

Jaz Primo said...

If Anon-L forgets us, we'll have to start calling L "the Notorious Anon-L"! ;-)
Glad that you're here, L! :-)

Anonymous said...

Who...?

Anon"L"

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

They were both movie screenplays. Writing a screenplay is VERY restrictive (120 pages) and a whole different animal all together. I will probably go back and do a couple more. I just got burned out after writing this historical screenplay and was told it was so very good BUT go make a name first then we'll give you 100 million bucks for the movie ;) I think I need a refresher-now!

Nikki said...

I love rum drinks...Its very tropical :)

Nikki said...

Try saying A nonal five times while spinning in a circle!! LOL

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Ok so should I have rum and coke or captain morgan and coke?

Nikki said...

hmmm or captain morgan with a rum and coke!!

Jaz Primo said...

AJ, I vote for the Capt Morgan and Coke, myself.
Or there's always Royal Crown and Coke! ;-)

Victoria said...

@ Jaz - I am anxiously awaiting the release of your third novel . . . yes, I know your second one was just released in May, but I'm addicted! lol ;-) Can you please tell me when you plan to release novel number 3 of the Sunset Vampire Series?

Anonymous said...

That's cool about the screenplays, so now you just need the 100 million to actually get the movie greenlit. hmmm

I'm going to see if I can do anything about that since I have a feeling this rap career is just on the verge of taking off huge.. Right Jaz?

Nikki said...

What is the hardest part about writing books? I read a post by another author that said writing sex scenes was the hardest...it took her 2 years to get it right

Nikki said...

yumm....crown chaser

Victoria said...

@ Jaz - Oops! Someone had recently asked that. Sorry. *blush*

Gee, and I'm only having caffeine-free Coke! ;-)

And thank you Anon-L lol ;-)

Anonymous said...

Go with the spiced rum. Definitely.

Jennifer Bonges said...

Finally able to get on my computer! YAY! Love all this!! Awesome!

I'm a former bartender...so I can virtual mix some cool drinks for you all!

Jen

BK said...

Nikki,

I think the hardest part is when I try to go against my muse. When I think the story should go one way, and she, Mouthy Mary, say no way it's working like this and that's that!

Sex scenes is easy, but I write Erotica too so guess that doesn't count for me. Amber and I are guest blogging August 8 and we talk about Writing Erotica. Sometimes it just doesn't belong. :)

Royal Flushes anyone? Since you're on the crown kick now haha. I'll buy a round of shots WOOT! WOOT!

BK

Victoria said...

I'm a writer, as well, but not an "author" like you all. I am humbled by you all. Hopefully, one day, though. Anyway, my point is - I think sex scenes are the easiest to write. At least for me. Gosh, perhaps that says something about me. lol ;-)

insight117 said...

Ooooo I'll take a Bay Breeze please : )

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

oh no! The sex thing! Well I can't spill the beans ;) but let's say it this way... I am a grown woman and I blushed the first time I wrote one. My book is YA Crossover so I personally paid extra attention to how I want to portray sex/intimacy. I'm sure some people will say I went too far or not far enough- but at the end of the day I put out what I am comfortable with. You'll just have to read

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Jennifer we've been waiting for you! BK just ordered a round on the house- get creative!

Anonymous said...

Round on BK!!! You rock girl.
I'll have a Royal Flush - what's a Royal Flush?

-Anon"L" (prominent rap artist)

BK said...

Victoria, maybe you should try an Erotica then ;). I don't mind sex scenes at all when appropriate.

Jamie, I like bay breezes too, yummo!

AJ - it's hard sometimes to know when you've gone too far in YA. But you're right and that is good advice, always write what you're comfortable writing.

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Yes Victoria hmmm I'll put that 'sex' scene note into my mental file :)

BK said...

LOL. Royal Flush is crown royal and peach schnapps with a splash of cranberry. (I used to be a bartender can you tell haha)

We can have a red headed slut later LMAO

Jaz Primo said...

I enjoy writing about the strong, passionate feelings and romance between characters...the love they feel for each other. But I'm not the best "erotica" writer, and so I leave the intimate machinations between characters to the imaginations of the readers. Suffice to say, I lend enough description for the reader to know that characters are engaging in sex together.
Does that sound as lame as I think it does? LOL

BK said...

That's it then Jenn, you are the B-Tender the rest of the night hahaha WOOHOO! AJ's got the virtual cabs in line so no need to worry about who's driving home haha

Victoria said...

Well, thank you all again for being here. I'm looking forward to taking a look at your novels. And BK, you write erotica? I will most definitely be taking a look at yours very soon! LOL! ;-)

BK said...

That's it then Jenn, you are the B-Tender the rest of the night hahaha WOOHOO! AJ's got the virtual cabs in line so no need to worry about who's driving home haha

BK said...

Thanks for stopping in Victoria, it's great to meet you. I'm sure we'll be talking more over the next 3 months :).

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

What is a Bay Breeze?

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Thanks Victoria!

BK said...

Jaz that doesn't sound lame at all. Like I said sometimes erotica just doesn't belong, and you find out in my post on the 8th all my thoughts on that haha.

BK said...

Parrot bay and something else, I can't member all the ingredients AJ. It's fruity though.

Anonymous said...

Red-headed slut?! Interesting..

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

fruity is good. I agree with you BK- I can absolutley tell when an author is forcing a sex scene just for the audience- same as in a movie. There are times and there are times

Nikki said...

LOL I though it was red headed step child? Slut sounds better!! I love erotica.

Nikki said...

This particular author was jumping from nonfiction to fiction and was told that sex sells and not to bother trying to write a fiction unless it was implied or explicit. It was hard for her. What about you guys? Anyone ever tell you that?

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

you girls... are to much

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

I guess I'm the only west coast author all so alone- that's ok I'll finish everyone's drinks

Jennifer Bonges said...

Awesome. I miss bartending!! :)

Red Head Sluts coming up....I don't remember exactly..I think it is Crown Royal..cranberry juice and jaeger?

Or I can whip up some classic Long Island Ice Teas...

Or some Bay Breezes...and maybe some Watermelon Martinis!

:)

BK said...

This is what I say, less is more unless it's Erotica. It just makes sense. I'm still here AJ, I'll be up all night for work. Just writing in between so bring on the drinks! Red headed slut anyone? (jager, peach, cranberry)

BK said...

Oh oh oh! Watermelon Martini! I want one of those! Heehee, as I get older my drinks get more classy ahaha.

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Nikki I never heard anything like that from anyone. When I had people review Pulse OF Heroes many said that some people are totally turned off if there is sex in the books because they feel that it cheapens it. Cont.

Anonymous said...

I'm on the west coast, and I'm still drinking !!
And I agree with Nikki - "slut" definitely sounds better than "step-child". Unless you're Woody Allen.

Ha

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Cont. There are many great works of fiction out there that have zero sex because that is not what the plot is about. Since Pulse of Heroes at it's core a coming of age story and a romance sex was a necessary thing to deal with.
Never had a watermelon martini but when I lived in Hawaii I had Lychee martinis all the time ;)

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

ewweeee L! Or VC Andrews!

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

so who needs another round?

Nikki said...

lychee martini? Ive had mango...love mango tango!

Jennifer Bonges said...

Oh..I bet Lychee Martinis are awesome. Hawaii? Envious..never been..someday!

VC Andrews..totally forgot about those.. I stopped reading those...I believe that as long the sex scenes are not just thrown in at random...they shouldn't cheapen the story...I mean sex is a part of life..intimacy..relationships..and a lot of times it is important to the story..coming of age stories especially...

LOL BK..as you get older..drinks more classy...makes me think of Anchorman..Stay Classy..

Me too..I love Martinis...makes me feel classy...:)

Nikki said...

I do!!

Jennifer Bonges said...

Blue Margaritas...I don't know why..they just look pretty....:)

Nikki said...

I just thought it was an interesting post...entertaining considering some of my fav books have 0 sex

Nikki said...

Arent blue margaritas sour? or just have blue agava?

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

You'll have to go to the Blue Moon Cafe on Oahu. That's the only place I ever saw them *sigh*

Jennifer Bonges said...

I honestly don't think that they are sour..or anymore sour than regular Margaritas...to me..they taste the same..just Blue..

Maybe Blue Moon Cafe will still be around by the time I get to Hawaii!

Anonymous said...

Never had a blue margarita.

Anonymous said...

Hawaii isn't going anywhere.. It'll be there for you!

-L

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Jennifer I am feeling you! on your post and on Hawaii :)

BK said...

Mmmm. I LOVE margarita's! I'll take one of those please.

Jennifer Bonges said...

And definitely an interesting post..I mean does anyone just go buy a book or read a book for the sex scenes? IDK. I don't think so...

Anonymous said...

Just curious.. What's everyone's favorite types of stories to read??

-L

Jennifer Bonges said...

Margaritas are my favorite and a specialty...:)

I wish I was in Hawaii...right now..:)

Jennifer Bonges said...

I read everything...I have an eclectic collection of books..anything from romance..horror..mystery/suspense..paranormal..some non-fiction..classics..

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Oh yes they do! Jennifer. I knew many of women who were addicted to them almost the same way that guys can be with porn ;)I think though it's a personality type. Some people enjoy the same ride others want something new

Anonymous said...

I too like to read a wide variety of stuff. I'm really looking forward to checking out ALL the authors on this tour. The only one I've read so far is A. Jacob's book (pulse of heroes) and I can say it's a wild ride if you like paranormal, romance and action. :)

I was an only child and a BIG reader...

Nikki said...

Me too...only child...I was reading full novels by 8. I love all books

Nikki said...

well...no sooo big on nonfiction

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

I think love of reading begins when parents read to their children. My mother read to me Edgar Alan Poe, Shakespeare, Bible, etc. by the time I was seven- I never stopped reading after that. Or writing.

Jennifer Bonges said...

Really? Wow..I mean hey whatever floats their boat..

I am an only child too..so yep a big reader! And I agree parents reading to their children. And letting their children read what they want..for the most part...

Anonymous said...

Yeah, my father had a lifelong love affair with reading. He had books packed into every spare space in the home - mostly classics like sherlock holmes, charles dickens, tons of history, tons of philosophy. To this day I remember how the teacher looked at me funny when I did a book report on The Trial and Death of Socrates in freshman english. I was 13.
L

Anonymous said...

Only children, big readers. Hmmm, sounds familiar

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

L is Soooo showing off

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

I'm a middle child :)

Anonymous said...

I'm just saying I would read anything that I could get my hands on.

Jennifer Bonges said...

That is impressive L. I have never read that. I remember junior year English..we could pick a piece of modern fiction to write a report on. I wanted to read The Prince of Tides and my teacher told me no..it was too advanced..what? She said that she knew I could read it...she was worried about the other kids in the class..I don't even remember what I ended up writing it on. LOL

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Jennifer- So your teacher told you to basically slow down?

Anonymous said...

Middle child is kind of like an only child.. no?

Nikki said...

Its been a blast guys but I have to work in....lol...a little while!! See you tomorrow party people!

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

Middle children do tend to be a bit removed because they are not the babies or the oldest , but they have it tougher in terms of emotional needs as they have to compete with the other children and often fail- so they retreat into their own

A. Jacob Sweeny said...

OK kids. I'm going to be clocking out at midnight. My Carriage awaits and I must return the glass slipper to its proper owner, Not to mention that I have to makeup editing work I didn't get done today. Those fans will not be happy if the 2nd installment of The Pulse-following Pulse Of Heroes is not out in time. I can't wait for the rest of the tour. Check out the guest blogs and yes giveaways starting tomorrow for me ;)Thank you so much for the lively discussion- cu soon peace out!

Pretty much...which I thought was interesting..oh well I read it and it is a great book....

Have fun at work! Later Nikki!
